Most Christians are familiar with the term scientism, defined as an excessive belief in the power of scientific knowledge and techniques. The culture at large has embraced ‘science’ as an all-encompassing umbrella term for truth as indicated by the often-repeated phrase, “Science says this,” or “Science says that,” which illustrates a naïve understanding of the reliability of science, which is always provisional and not absolute.
